M.E.R.C.Y.’s mission is to trap, sterilize and re-release in areas under controlled conditions until zero growth is achieved in the birth rate. We then feed and monitor the remaining colonies until depletion through natural causes. Cats are regularly observed for signs of compromised health and human threat to their safety and survival. As our work is done on the streets, we do not operate from our own premises nor have our own holding pens. We therefore rely heavily on the generosity and willingness of veterinarians and several animal welfare organisations in assisting us to re-home tame adult cats and kittens. We are also dependant on the kindness of compassionate members of society in donating food and funds for the successful completion of our work.
M.E.R.C.Y. operates primarily along the Atlantic Seaboard, our main area of activity being the Waterfront and Dockyard area, on occasion responding to requests for help from further afield as time and finances permit. Where unable to assist, we offer advice and refer people to welfare organisations in their area.
